Where did the display scaling go?

“External monitor looks huge and I cannot find the old scaling slider.”

Likely cause

You are looking at the old Control Panel “Make text bigger” page, but this monitor is managed by Settings → System → Display. Windows 11 uses a Scale dropdown per selected monitor, not a global slider, so the second display stays at 200% while the laptop is at 100%.

Select the huge monitor
Open Settings → System → Display. Click the rectangle for the external monitor (usually “2”) so it is highlighted before changing anything.

Set Scale to 100% or 125%
Under Scale & layout, open the Scale dropdown and pick 100% or 125%. Do not use “Custom scaling” unless you must — it is harder to undo.

Keep sign-in scale in sync
If the login screen is still huge, scroll to Multiple displays → click the link that mentions “advanced scaling”, turn Custom scaling off, then sign out and back in once.
